Trip Overview

Pikey Peak Trek is a newly opened trekking trial in the Everest region that offers grandeur of Mt. Everest with other neighboring peaks i.e. Mt. Annapuna, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Gaurishanker, Mt. Numbur, Mt. Kantega, Mt. Thamserku, Mt Karylung, etc. Pikey Peak Trek takes you to the world of mountains. The open landscape in between the mountain hosts traditional Sherpa Villages and reflects the Tibetan culture. The beautiful rhododendron forests and Buddhist Monasteries in the trial is a perfect blend to this trekking adventure.

Sir Edmund Hillary claimed that the view of the lower Everest region from Pikey Peak is the best in all of Nepal, and we're inclined to agree.

Pikey Peak Valley Trek is one of the best trekking in winter season (December - Early February ). You can see the beautiful scenery of white mountain ranges of Himalaya clearly.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1:  Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu.

Arrive in Tribhuvan Airport at any time, our team will welcome you and transfer to hotel.  We will have welcome dinner, explain further program, easy talk together or we can go out to Thamel area to feel the tourist atmosphere. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2 - Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing and Trek Preparations

We will spend full day sightseeing the historic Kathmandu Valley. Visit several UNESCO world heritage sites situated in Kathmandu Valley like Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath.  Also visit old temples and monuments around the city. These sites reflect the city prosperity in term of culture and traditions in ancient times. Return to hotel and we will check for trekking preparation. Overnight at 3-star hotel.

Day 3 - Drive to Dhap Bazaar – 2850m – 8 hours

We will drive from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazaar. This is an extraordinary journey through the green hills, crossing the Himalayas and enjoying beautiful scenery. The route follows the Sunkoshi River which joins Tama Koshi River along the side of the road and then forms the large Koshi River until it reaches Ghurmi. We will enjoy Nepali food specialties at rest area and continue our journey along the dense rhododendron forest. We will pass through some settlement areas before reaching Dhap Bazaar which will take around 3 hours to reach. Here we can explore the local market and observe the lifestyle of people who live there. Overnight at tea lodge.

Day 4 - Trek to Jhapre – 2815m – 4 hours

Today we will continue along road that leading us to Sigane. The trail continues along the bumpy roads to Jhapre. You will go to make short hike to Jhapre situated at the altitude of 2920 mdpl.  It is famous for exceptional points to view the mountains residing in the northern region. We can clearly see Mt. Everest (8848m) and the Numbur Himal from here. We will also visit gompas and stupas in the village. Overnight at a lodge.

Day 5 – Trek to Pikey Peak Phedi -  3490m - 7 hours  

We will wake up early morning to view first golden rays of sun falling on silver lining of snow-capped mountains. This is another beautiful day of hiking, passing through little village called Bhulbhule. From here, the trail splits and you turn right to Pikey Peak. You pass some old yak herders houses and a long Mani stonewall. So you may have an opportunity to see baby yak. The trail then contours the hillside below Taklung Danda and goes through a beautiful forested trail, with many rhododendrons. We continue our trek to Pikey Peak phedi and stay overnight here.

Day 06: Hike to Pikey Peak View Point (4065m) and trek to Loding (2515) – 8 hours

It is the great day. We begin with an early morning climb up along the steep rocky ridgeline to the Pikey Peak View Point (4065m). As nature has some limitation in offers beauty of it, so you have to catch the right moments.   It is one of the best view point in Nepal.  We can marvel on gorgeous sunrise view over the mountains range like Number Chuli (6959m), Thamserku (6608m), Kangtega (6685m), Khatang (6853m), Kanchenjunga (8586m), Manaslu (8163m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Gaurishankar (7134m), Dorje Lakpa (6966m), and Mt. Everest (8848m) - roof of the world that first conquered by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary from United Kingdom on 29th May 1953. After this amazing moment the trails lead you to Loding.  We will stay overnight at tea house.

Day 7 – Trek from Loding to Junbesi - 2680m – 5 Hours

We continue the trail goes through Jase Bhyanjyang. You will enjoy with amazing view as well. Then we will descent to Taktor where is the point we will meet Jiri to Everest basecamp route. Then finally you'll reach Junbeshi (inhabited by Sherpa people) where you'll enjoy with Sherpa Culture and traditions. We will stay overnight here at tea lodge

Day 8 - Exploration Day in Junbeshi and trip to Thuptenchholing Gompa - 2920m - 4 hours

Today will be our exploration day around the village. We will hike up along the Junbesi Khola to Thuptenchholing Gompa which was founded in the 19th century. The Gompa offers in-depth insights into the culture and religious heritage of the region. After spending some time here, we return to Junbesi. Overnight at tea house.

Day 9 - Trek to Phaplu – 2380m – 4 hours

Today we will follow the descending trail along Junbesi Khola until reaching a steel suspension bridge. On crossing the bridge, we will reach Beni Ghat. We will continue our walk along the trail filled with scenic pleasures before reaching Phaplu. We can explore area as we will bid farewell to the Rolwaling region. Here you can taste tasty local food and drink and participate in Sherpa cultural program (on request). Overnight at tea lodge.

Day 10 - Fly to Kathmandu

We will have 30 minutes amazing scenic fly back to Kathmandu. The final time for souvenir shopping and exploration. Searching of your favorite colorful local handicrafts, traditional artwork and tantalizing spices and enjoy friendly bartering with the local shopkeepers. Overnight at a 3-star hotel.

Day 11 - Departure to your onward destination

After breakfast, we will drive you back to Tribhuvan International Airport for your scheduled flight to your next destination. See you next time.
