Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Lhasa Tour covers major cultural sites of Lhasa, Gyantse, Shigatse and pilgrimage site Kailash Mansarovar. The major highlights of this tour around Lhasa are Potala Palace, Sera Monastery, Norbulinka Palace, Jokhang Temple, Tibetan traditional Barkhor Squire, Tashilampo Monastery in Shigatse and most sacred Lake Yamdok on driving way from Gyantse to Shigatse. Our trip start with a spectacular mountain view flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa and overnight in the beautiful city of Lhasa. Guided tour and acclimatization in Lhasa for 3 days will be more helpful for your entire trip to adjust your body in high altitude. After cultural trip in central Tibet- Lhasa, we further drive to Lake Mansarovar and Mount Kailash which lies in Ngari region of Tibet. We explore holy Lake Mansarovar and make 3 days Kailash Parvat Kora/ Parikrama with walking or by horse. The whole tour of Lhasa Kailash Tour is driving on well paved road except three days in Kailash Kora.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1300m) -  overnight at hotel

Upon arrival in Tribhuvan International airport, our staff will welcome you and then transfer to hotel.  Evening dinner & tour orientation.

 

Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing and trip preparation - overnight at hotel

After breakfast, proceed for a half day sightseeing tour of Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath. Then you are free for your tour preparation. In the evening at 5.30 PM we will sit for short briefing program.

 

Day 03: Fly Kathmandu – Gongga Airport and then transfer to Lhasa (3650m) -  overnight at hotel

After breakfast we will transfer you to the airport for one of world’s splendid flight to Lhasa, as it provides sweeping views of Everest (8848m), Kanchenjunga (8536m) and other Himalayan peaks. You will be received by our Tibetan guide at the airport and transfer to Lhasa with an exquisite drive of approximately 1 hour. It's advisable to rest and take it easy for the remainder of the day due to Lhasa's altitude.

 

Day 04: Sightseeing in Lhasa -  overnight at hotel

Today is rest day for acclimatization in Lhasa. We will arrange sightseeing tour in Lhasa city. Some major attraction in Lhasa are Potala Palace – a UNESCO World Heritage celebrated for its priceless treasury of Buddhist artifacts and bejeweled tombs of past Dalai Lamas. Potala Palace was also the tallest building in the world for 200 years following its construction in 1645Jokhang Temple followed by Barkhor Markets – a bustling road lined with vendors where you can feel smells and sounds of Tibet, or browse through the Thankas, masks, prayer beads and countless other treasures inherent to Tibetan custom and tradition.

 

Day 05: Lhasa Sightseeing - overnight at hotel

Visit Drepung Monasteries – the biggest in Tibet (With original accommodation for 7700 Monks) and Sera Monasteries famous for its unique debating practice almost available every afternoon. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 06: Drive from Lhasa - Gyantse (3950). - Shigatse (3900) – 8 hours -  overnight at hotel

The group will travel along Friendship Highway through northern route to Shigatse, the second largest city of Tibet. Tashilunpo Monastery is the highlight of Shigatse, as it is one of the largest functioning monasteries in Tibet. This monastery is the residence or official throne of Panchen Lama built in 1447. This is a vast monastery with its own streets, housing sectors, plazas, back alleys and complex of temples and halls. If time permits you can visit on your own expenses

 

Day 07: Drive from Shigatse - Lhatse (Altitude 4050 m) -  7 hours - overnight at hotel

After early breakfast, we commence extensive destination towards our ultimate trip to Kailash. The finest highway drive to Saga is really scenic and enjoyable. You will pass some high passes and landscape view of some town and villages with lakes on the way. Reaching Saga, our tour leader will distribute the key of rooms for refresh & rest.

 

Day 08: Drive Lhatse- Saga (4450m) - 5 hours - overnight at guesthouse

Today we will drive 340km to Saga, joint the regular Kailash route and overnight at guesthouse.  

 

Day 09: Drive to Mansarovar via Paryang (4558m) - 8 hours - overnight at guesthouse

We will drive to Lake Mansarovar 385km (4500m). Very auspicious day for all people who will have first glimpse of Holy Mansarovar and view of Mt. Kailash from Horchu Pass. Overnight stay at lodge at Chhu Gompa at the shore of Lake Mansarovar.

 

Day 10: Exploration of Lake Manasarovar and drive to Darchen (4620 m) – 1 hour – and overnight at guesthouse

Today you will have plenty time for Puja, Havana worship, Meditation, and holy bath in Lake Manasarovar. You will have breakfast in the morning and take lunch in the afternoon then we will drive to Darchen, the base camp of Mt. Kailash where we will stay an overnight in order to prepare for trekking around Mt. Kailash.

 

Day 11: Kailash Parikrama. Drive to Valley of the God and trek to Derapuk/4909m - 6 hours - overnight at guesthouse

After breakfast, drive approximately 13 km to Tarboche by Eco Buses, the trek starting point of Kailash Parikrama. Tarboche is also known as the outer "Asthapath". The first day of our Kora is a gradual walk with multitudes of other local pilgrims chanting and praying. The trail leads us to few ups and downs till we reach our camp or guest house at Derapuk (4860 m) in 6 hours’ trek. Overnight at Derapuk guest house.

Those who not feeling comfortable to continue Parikarma shall stay back at Darchen and wait for the Parikarma group to return.

 

Day 12: Trek to Zuthulphuk by crossing Dolma La pass (5613m). – 10 hours - overnight at guesthouse

Trek to Zuthulphuk (4790m) 22km, walk approximately 9 hours – Parikarma Continues, this is the day every pilgrims talks about, the most difficult journey through out the trip, Trek up to Dolma La pass(5600m). We will offer very short prayers at Dolmala and move towards Gaurikunda. They programmed in the same as usual, Zuthulphuk overnight stay at guesthouse.

 

Day 13: Finish Kailash Parikrama and drive back to Saga – 8 hours - overnight at guesthouse The morning can be spent exploring the caves and visiting the temples and shrine that has been built around Milarepa's cave. A married elderly couple supervises the temple, which is usually an active residence for over half a dozen Tibetan devotees, helpers, or relatives who continuously busy themselves with the tasks of maintaining the buildings.

One imagines Milarepa's disciples meditating here. Many of caves contain meditation platforms, self-contained by dry stonewalls which divide them from their cooking partitions and entrance areas. It is well worth the short climb up to these caves before beginning the final stage of the trek. The winding gradual tracks finally ends our holy pilgrimage walk 10 km/ 4 - 5 hrs. Once we reach at trek end point near Darchen, our Eco Bus will be waiting to take the group back to Chui Goempa Information centre from where group shall board its luxury bus for return to Lhasa.


Day 14: Drive back to Shigatse - overnight at hotel

After breakfast, drive to Shigatse. Overnight at hotel in Shigatse.

 

Day 15: Drive to Lhasa. Overnight at hotel

After breakfast, drive to Lhasa and the day is free to relax after a tough journey! Overnight at hotel in Shigatse. Today you will drive back to Lhasa through northern highway route.

 

Day 16: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

The last day in Tibet, we will be transfer to Lhasa airport after breakfast in the hotel. With our sweet memory, our guide will see off us from Lhasa airport. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, our transportation will transfer to the hotel in Kathmandu and be refresh and relax.

 

Day 17: Final Departure to Home or further program in Nepal

Transfer to international airport in Kathmandu for your flight back home or for further program in Nepal. We pray for your safety flight. Namaste
